ITEI conducts research on the psycho-social consequences of torture, state violence and other forms of human rights violations. The main objective of our research is to contribute towards developing a collective conscience on the impact of state violence - on the level of the affected people - as well as on society as a whole. Besides, our investigation aims to recover the historical memories of struggles and social demands of the Bolivian people. Essentially, all of ITEI's research targets to eradicate torture, state violence and other forms of human rights violations in Bolivia by building a strong national consensus against these practices.
